AI Co-Author

Your intelligent assistant for creating, refining, and enhancing OKRs. The AI Co-Author helps you write better objectives and key results through a conversational interface.

What is the AI Co-Author?

The AI Co-Author is Leemu's built-in intelligent assistant that helps you craft high-quality OKRs. It understands the OKR framework and best practices, so you can describe your goals in plain language and receive well-structured objectives and measurable key results in return.

Think of it as a brainstorming partner that helps you translate your strategic vision into concrete, measurable outcomes. It does not replace your judgment -- it amplifies it.

Accessing the AI Co-Author

Open the AI Co-Author from the main application sidebar. Click "AI Co-Author" in the left navigation panel. This opens the conversational interface where you can start creating or refining OKRs immediately.

AI Token System

Every interaction with the AI Co-Author consumes tokens. Tokens are allocated based on your subscription plan and reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Free Plan
Limited Tokens

A small monthly allocation to try the feature and generate a few OKR proposals.

Standard Plan
Moderate Tokens

Enough for regular use across your team with comfortable room for refinement cycles.

Premium Plan
High Tokens

Generous allocation for heavy AI usage, strategic planning sessions, and large organizations.

Check your usage: Navigate to Settings > Billing to view your current token consumption, remaining balance, and reset date. Tokens reset monthly at the start of your billing cycle.

Starting a Conversation

Click "New Conversation" to open a fresh chat session. The interface works like a messaging app -- describe your goals, context, and priorities in natural language, and the AI will respond with structured OKR suggestions.

  1. 1Click "New Conversation" in the AI Co-Author panel
  2. 2Describe your team's goals, challenges, or the area you want to improve
  3. 3Review the AI's response and continue the conversation to refine

Writing Effective Prompts

The quality of the AI's output depends heavily on the quality of your input. Specific, contextual prompts yield much better results than vague requests.

Good Prompts
  • "Our engineering team needs to reduce API response time from 800ms to under 200ms this quarter"
  • "We want to increase customer retention for our SaaS product. Current churn is 8% monthly and we target 4%"
  • "Help me create OKRs for launching our mobile app in Q2, targeting 10K downloads in the first month"
Weak Prompts
  • "Make me some OKRs"
  • "I need objectives for my team"
  • "Help with goals"

These lack context, metrics, and specific direction for the AI to work with.

Generating OKR Proposals

When you describe your goals, the AI Co-Author analyzes your input and generates structured OKR proposals. Each proposal includes a clear objective statement and a set of measurable key results.

The AI will:

  • Analyze your input for key themes and priorities
  • Generate clear, actionable objective statements
  • Create 2-5 measurable key results per objective
  • Present proposals in a reviewable card format

Working with Proposals

Once the AI generates proposals, you have three options for each one:

Accept

Converts the proposal directly into an OKR in your workspace. The objective and all key results are created automatically.

Reject

Provide feedback on why the proposal does not fit. The AI will use your feedback to generate improved alternatives.

Edit

Modify the objective or key results before creating the OKR. Fine-tune wording, targets, or metrics to match your needs.

Advanced Features

Beyond creating new OKRs, the AI Co-Author offers several powerful capabilities:

Enhance Existing OKRs

Share your current OKRs and ask the AI to improve clarity, make key results more measurable, or suggest better wording.

Generate Key Results

Have an objective but struggling with key results? Provide the objective and the AI will suggest appropriate measurable outcomes.

OKR Analysis

Ask the AI to evaluate your OKRs for common pitfalls such as unmeasurable key results, too many objectives, or lack of alignment.

Strategic Planning

Discuss high-level company strategy and let the AI help break it down into departmental or team-level OKRs with proper alignment.

Conversation Management

All your conversations with the AI Co-Author are saved and organized for easy access:

  • View history: Browse all past conversations in the sidebar panel
  • Continue conversations: Pick up where you left off on any previous session
  • Titles: Conversations are automatically titled based on content for easy identification
  • Archive: Archive conversations you no longer need but want to keep for reference
  • Delete: Permanently remove conversations you no longer need

Best Practices

  • Provide specific context about your team, industry, and current situation
  • Include current metrics and target numbers when possible
  • Iterate on proposals rather than starting new conversations each time
  • Mention the time frame (quarter, month, year) for your goals
  • Ask follow-up questions to refine rather than accepting the first suggestion
  • Use the "Enhance" feature for OKRs you have already written

AI Limitations

While the AI Co-Author is a powerful tool, it is important to understand its limitations:

  • Cannot know your specific context -- it works with the information you provide, so more detail yields better results
  • Cannot make decisions for you -- it suggests options and frameworks, but strategic choices remain yours
  • Does not replace human judgment -- always review and validate AI suggestions against your team's real-world knowledge
  • May suggest generic targets -- customize numerical targets to match your organization's scale and capacity

Privacy & Security

Your AI conversations are treated with the highest level of privacy and security:

  • All conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Conversations are scoped to your company and never shared across organizations
  • Your data is not used to train AI models
  • Company administrators can manage conversation retention policies
